Story

Let’s start by saying — printing a men’s T-shirt with the words “Pink Slip” (as in pink underwear) takes a good dose of courage.
But hey, every one of our T-shirts has a great story behind it.

It was the late 1940s when the Hot Rod phenomenon exploded in America. More and more kids, fuelled by Rock’n’Roll, were modifying their cars in garages — stripping off fenders and hoods, chopping the roofs, and most importantly, boosting engine horsepower.

These “bad boys” started racing at stoplights — and at first, it was all just fun and games.
But then came the bets and the races, and with them, the birth of Street Rodding — a pseudo-sport that was clearly illegal.

When an average-looking car pulled up next to you and challenged you at a light, it was probably a Q-ship — a decoy, a sleeper car hiding a monster under the hood.

The legendary line was:
“Three lights for a pink slip.”
It meant one thing — you were racing for your car.

Backing out didn’t just make you a coward — it meant they were calling you a girl… saying you wore pink panties.

So it was simple: either you’d built something faster than theirs, or you lost your ride.

Even today, the phrase “Racing for a Pink Slip” still lives on in car culture.

And of course, Johnny couldn’t help but add one last line at the bottom:
“Anonymous drivers only.”
