We couldn’t miss the chance to dedicate a T-shirt to Moto Guzzi, the Italian brand that shaped the history of world motorcycling before and after World War II. In 1919, in the historic workshop of Giorgio Ripamonti (via Cavour, 12 – Mandello del Lario), the story of Moto Guzzi began. In 1921, as printed on the T-shirt, the factory was officially established. What many people don’t know is that in the same year, right around Lake Como, the Circuito del Lario was also born.
This motorcycle race quickly became one of the most coveted competitions for riders of the time, who nicknamed it the Italian Tourist Trophy because of its extreme difficulty. The circuit featured more than 300 curves and a 550-meter elevation gain, with its highest point reaching 754 meters.
The record average speed on the circuit was set by Nello Pagani riding a Moto Guzzi Condor 500, winner of the final edition in 1939, with an average speed of 84.101 km/h.
The circuit remained active from 1921 to 1939. In the first year, Amedeo Ruggeri on a Harley-Davidson claimed victory; in the following years, wins alternated mainly between Moto Guzzi and Bianchi.
It felt only right to design a Mandello T-shirt that could capture and celebrate this piece of history.
