Between 1885 and 1895 the public administration of New York started the project of cleaning the rough suburbs of Manhattan, it turned out to demolish the “FIVE POINTS” and this forced the poor and the criminality to move near Lower East Side and The Bowery. This t-shirt is dedicated to the suburb of Manhattan called “Bowery” (shady) better known as “The Bowery”, famous for being the cradle of New York punk. In fact at 315, Bowery Street arose in 1973 the rock club CBGB which launched Ramones and where Patty Smith and Debby Harry, future singer of Blondie, made their first appearance. In the 1979 cult movie “the Warriors”, the “punks” of Manhattan (the gang with skates) clashed with the Night Warriors right at The Bowery metro station.
